Abstract:
Hydrodynamics is a universal low energy effective field theory
able to describe a very diverse range of physical systems.
Interestingly, the framework is valid and powerful also for
systems with spontaneously broken symmetries when the corresponding
Goldstone modes are taken into account. In this talk, I will discuss
the hydrodynamic description of holographic systems with
spontaneously broken symmetries, corresponding to the so-called
holographic solids and holographic superfluids. I will demonstrate
a very good matching between the two frameworks but also some
unexpected surprises which still call for an understanding.
